Safehouse for Your Pet

Our pets are part of the family, and at Ahimsa House, they are treated as such. Domestic violence can be difficult on pets, especially when they are close with the victim. Ahimsa House provides confidential temporary shelter to protect your pet while you find shelter of your own. Your pet will be well taken care of while you actively seek protection. Over 70% of domestic violence victims have reported that their abusers harmed or threatened their pets as well, making this service essential.

Ahimsa House provides a 24-hour crisis line to aid abuse victims and their representatives with safety planning and assistance. One of the services offered is a temporary protection order (TPO), which is designed to order the abuser to stay away from the pet. The crisis line also helps pet owners with referrals to other agencies or programs, as well as with establishing proof of ownership.
